UASF bus makes final stop at Bentwaters

The Bentwaters Cold War museum accepted delivery of a new exhibit on during February - a former 1960's USAF bus that has been donated to the museum.

The bus is an International Rhd bus built in 1964, especially for use at the US bases in the UK, and could carry 44 passengers. However our example was in use as an ambulance bus, so it still retains seating for 16 people, with the rear of the bus converted to carry stretchers.

Initial plans for the bus will see the completion of the restoration, to running order, following which we will be able to display the bus outside the museum, on selected opening days.

Future plans may see the bus used for airfield tours during our annual special open day.
