24 April 2010

Tribute to the V-Force

This two day event will take place at Newark Air Museum on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th April 2010.

The first event that was staged in 2004 attracted several hundred participants form across the UK. The reunion side of the event is being organised by a team of former V-Force Officers, whose aim is to bring together as many former aircrew and ground support staff as possible that flew or serviced Valiants, Victors and Vulcans.

We would like to emphasise that the two day event is also open to the public and it all looks set to be yet another tremendous weekend. There are lots of visiting displays of parts, equipment clothing and photographs relating to these iconic V-Force aircraft and the crews that operated them; ‘sell & signing sessions’ where visitors can meet with several well known authors; plastic model aircraft display entitled “The Big Stick which kept the Peace” ; plus a daily lecture.

Updated information about all of the different aspects of the event can be found on the museum website www.newarkairmuseum.org.

Newark Air Museum, which is located in eastern Nottinghamshire close to the border with Lincolnshire, is the home to Vulcan XM594, which saw local service at RAF Scampton and RAF Waddington, with 27, 101 and 44 Squadrons between 1963 and 1982. This airframe and other Cold War aircraft in the collection will be open to the public, and a small additional admission fee is charged to access these airframes.

Normal museum admission rates apply Adults £6.25, Over 60s £5.75, Children £4.00 and Family ticket [2 adults & 3 children] £18.50 and Gift Aided Admission Rates are also applicable.
