Firefly arrives at Newark

The latest addition to Newark Air Museum’s expanding collection of training items is Slingsby T-67 Firefly CIM.
This procedures trainer, which was based on the Firefly basic military trainer that the Babcock company operated as part of the CoCo (Contractor Owned Contractor Operated) arrangement with the RAF was delivered to the museum site last week.
The Slingsby T-67 Firefly CIM has been donated to the museum and was delivered to the Newark Air Museum’s Drove Lane site from the Babcock Exhibitions base at the former RAF Bottesford (Normanton Airfield) in Lincolnshire.
It is anticipated that the unit will be used to enable the younger visitors to the museum to sit in the cockpit of this former procedures trainer. The Slingsby T-67 Firefly CIM is pictured in the museum Display Hangar 2.
