Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire support secured for Cockpit-Fest 2011

Following a recent appeal to companies, organisations or individuals that might be willing to donate prizes or resources to the annual Cockpit-Fest event the Newark Air Museum is pleased to announce a significant offer of support from Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire (AHL).
Cockpit-Fest 2011 was already due to host the inaugural display of a travelling exhibition of aircraft nose art from AHL’s Aircraft Nose Art Competition and AHL have now agreed to fund the production of a trophy for Cockpit-Fest. The judging category for which the trophy will be awarded has still to be determined but the trophy will subsequently be awarded on an annual basis.
Dave Harrigan the Outreach and Learning Officer for AHL explained about the Aircraft Nose Art Competition, “Students of all ages in Lincolnshire have been designing their own aircraft Nose Art in our competition and 24 of the winning entries transferred professionally on to A1-sized aluminium sheets and exhibited around the region, starting off at Cockpit-Fest on the 18th and 19th of June.”
He continued, “With our involvement already confirmed for Cockpit-Fest it seemed a logical step to provide a trophy for the annual event, which is run by Newark Air Museum who is a member of AHL.”
Dave concluded, “We know that the competition winners are looking forward to seeing their designs displayed at this prestigious event; that will help promote Lincolnshire’s story of aviation to people from across Great Britain and Europe.”
