On Friday 3 July, 2009 the Newark Air Museum hosted a combined visit from 10 officers and senior cadets from the Polish Air Force Academy who were on an exchange visit to the Royal Air Force College at Cranwell, Lincs. The officer in charge was Colonel Marek Grzegorzewski.

During their time in the UK the group has been hosted by members of the Lincolnshire Integrated Aviation Heritage Partnership [LIAHP] and has visited the Digby Ops Room Museum at RAF Digby, Lincs; the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight [BBMF] at RAF Coningsby; the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby; the Waddington International Air Show; the Polish War Cemetery in Newark, Notts; and was received by the Mayor of the City of Lincoln.

The Polish Cadets also helped look after part of the LIAHP stand at the Waddington Airshow, which featured a display highlighting the long-standing connections that the Polish Air Forces has across Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.

Mike Ingham from LIAHP, who co-ordinated arrangements for the group, commented “We have had a really good week, and the Partnership has been delighted to welcome the Polish Air Force to the area".

Whilst at the Newark Air Museum they were able to go into the MiG-23, Buccaneer, Shackleton, Vulcan cockpits, and the Canberra B(I)8. The group is pictured in front of the recently restored Buccaneer maritime strike fighter.
