Duxford to host 'Spitfire Day'
The legendary Spitfire will be celebrated at Imperial War Museum Duxford on Spitfire Day on 9 August 2009.
It was at historic Duxford in August 1938 that the Spitfire first entered RAF service and Duxford's special day pays tribute to the most famous combat aircraft of all time.
The day will give visitors the opportunity to see a variety of Spitfires take to the skies over Duxford.
Participating aircraft confirmed to date are:
Supermarine Spitfire IXT x 2
Supermarine Spitfire V
Supermarine Spitfire XIV
There will also be a talk on the iconic aircraft and a trail around the museum that brings the story of the Spitfire to life. There is also the opportunity to meet members of the Spitfire Society, who can answer all of your questions about this legendary aircraft.
