Buccaneer pilot talks at Newark
The first Newark Air Museum talk of 2009 will be taking place on Tuesday 30 June 2009 featuring the Buccaneer and the guest speaker will be Group Captain Tom Eeles.
After initial flying training Tom gained extensive operational experience as a fast jet, ground attack pilot with the Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm.
During his career Tom has amassed over 8000 flying hours, achieved on a wide variety of operational and training aircraft; both fast jet, multi engine, light piston engine and rotary wing.
Tom's talk will cover his experience converting to and operating the Buccaneer S2 with the Royal Navy, with a detailed description of embarked flying from HMS Victorious.
He will also cover his experience as a flying instructor on the Buccaneer (no dual controls) along with the almost inevitable disaster, ejection and crash. The talk will feature video, taken on board, of launch, weapon delivery and arrested recovery.
