Discover Duxford's hidden secrets
Following the immense popularity of its recent themed tours, Duxford's Department for Learning announces a new series of tours for autumn and winter 2009.
The Grand Tour is a day-long themed tour that reveals the lesser known stories and facts about Duxford. For visitor with more specific interests, or who want to enjoy a taste of The Grand Tour, the Department for Learning has instigated a range of shorter 90 minute tours that give a greater insight into the history of key items in the Duxford collection. With a maximum of 20 participants per tour, there are plenty of opportunities for questions and debate.
Tours can be booked to explore Land Warfare Hall and the American Air Museum. New for autumn 2009 is a tour of the North Side of Duxford. Entitled Unseen Duxford, this 90 minute tour enables visitors to explore the side of the Duxford site that is not normally open to visitors. It is a fantastic opportunity to discover more of the historic buildings that form part of the Second World War fighter station and to find out more about their role during the war.
